The Green Bunker in Amsterdam.

The Science-park of the University of Amsterdam located in the Eastern part of the City was given a complete make-over the last six years. I used to live next door of this Science-park and walked my dogs over there. Most of the buildings from the 50’s of last century are being renovated and re-designed.

When the new building for the World Famous AMOLF ( Fysica ) Institute was build there was not enough budget to demolish the old Bunker in front of the building. The old bunker was the home of a Particle Accelerator doing scientific research during the 60’s.

The construction of the bunker was still ok but the building needed a new face, and this was done the green way. Green walls and a green roof in combination with a wooden palet construction gave this old building a new fresh look .
